Welcome to Michael Cartwright Photography.

Photography, for me, has always been about more than just images, it’s about experiencing places. From the North East coastline to the streets of Europe, I’m drawn to the changing light, atmosphere, and the small moments that often go unnoticed.

While landscape photography sits at the heart of my work, my approach goes beyond a single genre. Whether it’s quiet coastal scenes, life in the streets, or the details that define a location, I aim to create images that feel connected to a place rather than simply documenting it.

Alongside my personal work, I run small group photography workshops across the UK and abroad. These are designed to help photographers of all levels slow down, see more clearly, and develop both their technical skills and creative approach, all while experiencing inspiring locations.

With over a decade of experience behind the camera, my work also spans commissions, teaching, photographing hundreds of weddings and running Yarm Studio. I’m currently working with Fotovue on an upcoming guidebook, Explore & Discover the North York Moors & Coast.
